G. A. Williams
Gary began to develop his artistic talent at a very early age. Influenced by his grandmother, New Mexico artist Hallie Williams, Gary sensed his own artistic abilities as he experienced and drew the hearty landscapes that surrounded him.
After receiving his BFA, Gary married and supported his family with a variety of jobs before returning to the University of Arizona for graduate study in painting. For a time, he drew and painted only in his spare time. He sought to express his creativity and love for the land by designing and building adobe homes. Gary began his full-time professional committment to art in 1985.
"What happens when I paint? Imagine yourself if a painting as it is being created. You move around each rock, through each shadow, and up each sunlit branch as it reaches into the sky. You become so involved that time stands still. You begin to feel the temperature and smell the air. I think everyone is capable of being seduced by a painting in this way. This is true appreciation and joy."
